Dental Cleaning & Scaling in Gudivada
A clean, healthy smile starts with professional care. Our gentle cleaning removes what brushing can't reach — the foundation of lasting oral health.
Why does professional cleaning matter?
While daily brushing and flossing are essential, they cannot remove tartar (hardened plaque) that builds up on your teeth and below the gumline. Professional cleaning removes these stubborn deposits that lead to gum disease, tooth decay, and other oral health problems.
Professional scaling reaches deep below the gumline where bacteria hide and cause damage. Regular cleanings prevent serious gum disease, freshen your breath, and keep your natural smile bright and healthy for life.
A typical visit includes an oral exam, ultrasonic scaling to break up tartar, hand scaling below the gumline, polishing, and a fluoride treatment — usually 30 to 60 minutes, starting from Rs 1,000 INR. Every session is supervised personally by Dr. Vidya Sahithi Atluri, MDS (Prosthodontist), using gentle ultrasonic tools comfortable even for sensitive teeth. Most patients benefit from a cleaning every 6 months to catch tartar buildup early.
What do we clean?
Tartar & calculus removal
Our ultrasonic scalers break up and remove hardened tartar buildup that regular brushing cannot reach, restoring teeth to their natural surface.
Plaque elimination
We remove soft plaque buildup that harbours harmful bacteria, preventing cavities and gum disease before they start.
Stain removal
Professional polishing removes surface stains from coffee, tea, wine, and smoking, leaving your smile visibly brighter and fresher.
Below-the-gumline cleaning
Our dentists carefully scale below your gumline to remove bacteria and buildup that cause gum disease, protecting your gums and bone.
How does the cleaning process work?
Oral examination
We start by examining your teeth and gums for signs of decay, gum disease, or other issues. This helps us customise your cleaning to your specific needs.
Ultrasonic scaling
Our modern ultrasonic scaler vibrates at a frequency that breaks up tartar and calculus buildup on the tooth surface and below the gumline, gently and efficiently.
Hand scaling
For stubborn deposits and detailed work, especially below the gumline, our dentist uses hand scalers with precision and care to ensure no buildup is left behind.
Polishing
A gentle polishing paste removes any remaining surface stains and leaves your teeth feeling smooth and looking bright. Your smile will feel refreshed and clean.
Fluoride treatment
We apply a protective fluoride treatment that strengthens enamel and helps prevent cavities and sensitivity. This extra protection lasts for months.

After your cleaning
Mild sensitivity to hot, cold, or brushing for a day or two after scaling is common, especially if there was a buildup of tartar being removed — this settles quickly and isn't a sign of any problem. Your teeth may also feel unusually smooth right after, since the rough tartar surface has been polished away.
There's no special aftercare needed beyond your normal brushing and flossing routine. If you notice ongoing sensitivity beyond a few days, or any bleeding that doesn't settle, let us know — it's usually simple to address.
Surface staining from tea, coffee, or tobacco is also polished away during a cleaning, though it will gradually return over time with continued exposure — this is normal and simply means your next cleaning will refresh it again.
Why professional cleaning matters
Brushing and flossing remove plaque, but once plaque hardens into tartar (also called calculus), it can only be removed with professional ultrasonic scaling — no amount of home brushing will shift it. Left in place, tartar buildup along and under the gumline is one of the main drivers of gum disease.
A cleaning every six months catches this buildup before it causes problems, and gives us a chance to spot early cavities, wear, or gum changes at a stage where they're easy and inexpensive to treat. It's the single most effective preventive habit for long-term dental health.
The appointment itself is quick — usually 30 to 45 minutes — and painless for most patients, making it one of the easiest ways to protect both your smile and your budget from bigger problems down the line.
Some patients worry that cleanings themselves damage enamel or make teeth more sensitive over time — this isn't accurate. Ultrasonic scaling removes tartar deposits sitting on the tooth surface and below the gumline; it doesn't remove or thin healthy enamel underneath. Any temporary sensitivity after a cleaning comes from previously tartar-covered areas of the tooth root being exposed to air and temperature for the first time, not from damage — and it settles within days as the area adjusts. If you've been putting off a cleaning because a previous one felt uncomfortable, let us know beforehand; we can use topical numbing gel or adjust our technique to make the visit far more comfortable.
